The Commerce Drive man, 24, was traveling south on Black Rock Turnpike on the wrong side of the road on the sidewalk around 4 p.m., police said.

He told police he saw the light change outside BJ’s Warehouse Club, but he was traveling too fast to stop and hit a car that was exiting the lot, police said.

The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, complained of leg and head pain and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, police said.

He was given a verbal warning to obey traffic signals.

The car’s driver, a 27-year-old Bridgeport woman, had an expired registration and a suspended license, police said. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Jan. 8.
